Hello, and thanks for viewing our poster from the 2024 Ice Core Open
Science Meeting. (If you didn’t, thanks even more for taking the trouble
to find this page.) Here you’ll find a few videos, extra images, and
other good stuff that we couldn’t put on a poster.
ALPACA in AR
Missed the live show-and-tell? Want to see what ALPACA would look like
in your lab? Now you can enjoy seeing ALPACA
in 3D anytime! Fancy ski goggles are optional; an iPhone or iPad
will also do, except you’ll have to keep on holding it.
An example of the images collected by ALPACA. Note that six different
sample orientations are shown here, instead of four, due to the
inclusion of alternate opposite-angles.
Another thin section of Allan Hills ice shows off its colors—from
thin-film interference—and its intensity variations as it’s rotated with
respect to the polarizers. This measurement also includes two extra
orientations, although the last few frames begin glitching together.

more, there’s only one of them in existence!)
